ABOUT

Founded in 2020, the Manitou Arts and Cultures Committee (MACC) was created to promote interactions between all residents in our Lac Manitou et Environs (LM&E) community. Hosting both in-person and remote events, MACC will encourage frequent interactions between those who live here full time, or part time.

The Arts & Culture Committee Chair is Kathie Swim.

OBJECTIVES

MACC will host / organize art and cultural events that meet two or more of the following definitions:

  • Arts - Painting, photography, sculpture, crafts, music, literature, etc.

  • Culture - Sharing of customs, family histories, cultural events, etc.

  • Community - Offer a variety of events such as parties, lectures, and performances for all ages and abilities

Actions we will take to achieve this:

  • Maintain a database of talented artists who are members or family of members

  • Share “private” Arts and Culture activities organized and hosted by members wanting to include/invite AALM members

  • Organize a minimum of 4 (maximum 6) annual events that are complementary to the broader Lake

Mandate

MACC will organize several land and water-based activities to encourage community interactions focusing on Arts and Cultures.

  • The Arts section of the ACC will focus on the creativity of our members

  • The Cultures section of the ACC will focus on the diversity of our members

  • The Community section of the ACC will focus on socialization among our members

Monday MAC Mixers!

MAC Mixers are an opportunity for you to meet with other LM&E residents with whom you share a common interest.

Normally held on Mondays from 8-9pm (though we are very flexible), each Mixer will be devoted to a particular topic. There will be no agendas or presentations, nothing formal at all. If the topic interests you, then please join in and participate.

MAC Mixers are intended as informal, unstructured events. During the winter, and especially during the pandemic, all of our mixers will be held via Zoom, Google Meetings, or Facebook.

For more information, or if you have an idea for a Mixer topic, please contact the MAC committee members at macc@aalm.ca

All of our upcoming events are posted on the AALM Event Page.
