AALM’s Water Safety and Education Committee will develop and deliver various education initiatives with the purpose of improving conditions and residents’ experiences on and around the lake.

Mandate

The Water Safety and Education Committee will develop and distribute educational content on Lac Manitou (and other water bodies as requested by the AALM) with the purpose of promoting and improving the safety and respect on the lake.

What WSEC Will Do

AALM’s Water Safety and Education Committee will: a) determine specific short and long term educational goals and priorities among them; b) develop educational content to make progress on those goals, and c) develop and implement delivery mechanisms for that content.

The members of the WSEC have determined that its educational goals include promoting and improving:

  • residents’ knowledge of regulations and best practices, for example the Code Nautique.

  • the skills of those who use the water, and

  • sharing the lake and shores safely and respectfully.

How WSEC Will Deliver its Education

AALM’s Water Safety and Education Committee will leverage expertise and content within the community as well as outside to deliver its programs. Specifically, WSEC will:

  • Create and Deliver Education Content

    • Determine the audience for this education,

      Determine the content and leverage existing content as appropriate,

    • Develop content as necessary,

    • Determine the method of delivery for that education (collateral, dry-land and on-water training) for the upcoming years,

    • Deliver the content directly or through contract providers,

    • Monitor the progress of our efforts

  • Foster relations among residents through education-based activities.
