Apps to Help Identify Plants, Birds, Animals, Stars and More

Our house in Ivry has a shelf full of Peterson’s Field Guides — birds, trees, butterflies. I spent hours pouring over the Field Guide to wildflowers, learning about marsh mallow and lady slippers.

These days, identifying plants, animals, birds and even the planets in the night sky is a lot easier. You just need a phone and the right app.
